(1926–2011) was a renowned Indian spiritual guru, philanthropist, and educator born in Puttaparthi, Andhra Pradesh, as Sathyanarayana Raju. Proclaiming himself as the reincarnation of Shirdi Sai Baba in 1940, he established the Prasanthi Nilayam ashram and built a global following based on teachings of love, service (“Love All, Serve All”), and spirituality. He is recognized for founding major educational, healthcare, and humanitarian projects
- Early Life: Born on 23 November 1926 in Puttaparthi. At age 14, he declared his mission to provide spiritual regeneration to humanity, leaving his home to serve his devotees.
- Prasanthi Nilayam: His main ashram, the “Abode of Divine Peace,” was inaugurated in 1950 and remains a global pilgrimage site.
- Teachings: He emphasised five core human values: Truth (Sathya), Right Conduct (Dharma), Peace (Shanti), Love (Prema), and Non-violence (Ahimsa).
- Education: The Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning provides free, value-based education from primary to doctoral levels.
- Healthcare: Super-speciality hospitals in Puttaparthi and Bengaluru offer advanced medical treatments and surgeries entirely free of charge.
- Water Projects: He initiated massive rural water supply projects, providing clean drinking water to millions in drought-prone districts of Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.
